Review: When Jared left, he took Holly’s heart with him. Fifteen years later he returns to his hometown, injured and tired of running from his family. Holly greets him with a snowball. She’s angry and still hurt that he’d left with only a note of goodbye and little contact since. Jared understands her feelings, but he wants her anyway. Is his determination enough to bridge a fifteen year gap when Holly is finally ready to move on with another man in another state?

Holly’s Big Bad Santa was a great combination of sweet, maturing and some slightly naughty play. Jared was completely attractive with his bad boy demeanor and Holly was real with her anger and quirks. The secondary characters also added so much to this story, their little additions, especially Jared’s parents, giving the whole story a deeper, more meaningful feel. I give Starla Kaye’s wonderful Christmas story four candy canes and can’t think of anyone who doesn’t mind a little tiny bit of kink who wouldn’t love it.

This year it seems that Nicholas Kringle is burnt out and in need of some Christmas spirit himself. So he decides to take a vacation. Hoping that soaking up the sun and enjoying some quiet time will rejuvenate him Nicholas heads to the warmth of Trinidad. As Nicholas sits and enjoys himself he soon hears a woman calling to him for help. Neeva is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and she may be the one that Nicholas gives his heart to. He must get Neeva to believe in the magic of Christmas in only a few days. Will Neeva let Nicholas in and start to believe in him before time runs out.

Neeva has had a hard time of it as late and has become jaded but she is a strong willed woman and longs for love just like the rest of us. Nicholas is a great man with a big heart that cares for all who deserve it especially Neeva. Even though they only met days before Neeva finds herself falling for Nicholas. With his witty banter and flowering speech Neeva finds herself loosing her heart. The bond that grows between Nicholas and Neeva is a special one and proves that if you really believe, the magic will find you.
Dahlia Rose writes a sweet short story that proves that love can be found even when you are not looking for it and that love can heal all wounds if you let it in.
If you are a reader who likes stories about love and magic sit back and enjoy this enchanting story for the holidays.

Review: Reagan Thornton isn’t happy and can’t fake it even for her two children. The Christmas season reminds her of losing the love of her life and she uses her unhappiness to erase as much of the season as she can from her family’s lives. When Jack Frost shows up at her door, reeking of Christmas spirit and winter wonder, she immediately wants to shut him out, but something about him draws her closer. Jack’s on a mission of his own. Created just for Reagan’s Christmas wish, his only goal is to make her happy but from the moment he sees her, she makes him yearn for all the things he cannot have. Can Christmas magic bring them together, or will the very magic that brought them together, set them apart?

Mr. Jack Frost is a sweet holiday story. Jack Frost himself is a wonderful character, his innocence is beguiling yet he also manages to be practical enough not to get annoying. The scenery is beautifully described, December in Minnesota the perfect backdrop for any white Christmas story. I wanted to like Reagan a lot more than I did and she kept the candy canes down to three and a half, but Mr. Jack Frost is definitely a story I would recommend to readers looking for a heartwarming, magical tale.

Devon can’t say she’s thrilled to spend her Christmas in Heil aka Hell, California but her boss’ family is the only one she can reasonably be with during the holidays so she goes along. Part of her negative attitude stems from being tired of being alone, but also from one cowboy in particular: Jarrod Abbott. He’s gorgeous and sweet from all she’s seen, yet she always has the feeling he doesn’t like her. When the opportunity arises to change the animosity, Devon reaches out to grab a chance for a happy Christmas with a charming cowboy.

I enjoyed Christmas in Hell. It was super short but Lex Valentine managed to make a believable, heartwarming, sexy story that I think most readers will like. I give the Christmas in Hell four candy canes and know for those who need a quick break from the Christmas crazies the story will be a sweet escape.

Prepared to spend Christmas alone Trisha sends her friends home and decides to enjoy the toys she has bought earlier. It seems some of them she needs a partner to enjoy them with but the sales lady was so good and Trisha loved a sale. Just maybe someday she would find a man worthy to play with but for the night she is resigned to use them herself. As Trisha begins to undress an unexpected guest drops in on her. A man in the guise of an elf calling himself Hood. Little does Trisha know but Hood is a dominant alien from another planet and is helping Nicholas deliver gifts. Helping Nicholas is not his choice and going to Earth is definitely not where he wants to be but when Hood finds Trisha all that changes. Could Trisha be Hoods mate? Will Hood be the man that will satisfy Trisha? As Hood shows Trisha just what he can do, the lonely night she imagined is turned into a wonderful ride. The relationship that begins between these two on this magical night is a hot read.

Selene Noreen brings the reader into a wondrous world where wishes do come true. A sexy read with humor thrown in, this short story is a great read. Trisha and Hood are a great couple and the way these two were outwitted into meeting was cute. With Hood’s mother posing as the sales clerk and Trisha’s Jolly Green Giant comments this book is humorous as well. I truly enjoyed this story and will be on the lookout for more from this author.

Ellie has been heartbroken since her divorce from the love of her life, Nick. She moved into a tiny condo and refused alimony, telling herself that she had given him the freedom to marry his secretary. But, oddly, nobody ever asked Nick his opinion on the matter, and he has also spent the past two years missing his beloved wife. When they meet at a Canadian resort over the Christmas holidays, there may finally be a chance to clear up misunderstandings and be happy again. If only they can...

This was a nice, heartwarming Christmas tale. The snowy resort is the perfect backdrop for a Christmas romance full of carolers and champagne. There has never been a couple more meant to be together than Ellie and Nick, and I did find it a little hard to understand how a couple could get divorced without either of them asking the other what was going on. But, pride can make people act stupidly, and I am sure stranger things have happened. Aside from that one point, I enjoyed the book very much, and recommend it for a snowy or (here in California) cool and gloomy winter day’s read. As the characters travel from Florida to the freezing Canadian north, we travel with them to experience the holiday season in both warm and cold style

This anthology of three stories involving the Riley siblings, a matchmaking Santa, and mistletoe is a real Christmas treat. It has everything.

The first story, Mistletoe Mischief, involves a love-at-first-sight romance that is impossible to resist. Two single parents, Eric Riley and Marissa Wilder, who have been burned in prior marriages, find soul mates one Christmas in July day, with the help of their daughters and a bit of mistletoe magic.

The second story, Mistletoe Magic, involves the budding romance of Major Mark Riley and Janelle Walsh. From the moment they met at a Christmas parade, the couple won me over. He was a special hero, an ex-military man determined to do something to help out the community. Unfortunately what he wanted to do upset the heroine’s life and made them enemies of a sort. But Christmas magic and mistletoe help to save the day…and their special love.

The third story, Mistletoe Match-Up, involves the romance of former high school rivals, Lisa Riley and Derek Walsh. They’d challenged each other on everything when younger, and still did even after meeting again at her brother’s wedding to Derek’s cousin all these years later. They’d also ignored a budding attraction when they were younger, but it wasn’t so easy to ignore now that they’d grown up. Especially when a sneaky “Santa” keeps testing their resistance with mistletoe and its magic.

Definitely a fun read to warm your heart at this special time of year.

From vampires to outer space, Season of Love is a great anthology that explores love in the Christmas season. Suspense in Mistletoe Fangs by Susan Blexrude is a great starting point when vampires celebrate. The Office Party by Bill Haywood slows down with a holiday office party turned bazaar by the building’s resident ghost. A Special Christmas Gift by Kate Hofman brings things to modern and not so fanciful times and finally in the end we head to a new world in Peace on New Earth by Miriam Newman where a new agreement for life must be made and despite their differences, two people find love.

I loved the first and last stories of the anthology immensely. I’d give them five diamonds a piece. Since it’s an anthology though, I’ll average the four stories and give the overall book four diamonds. It’s a great holiday read to get in the mood for the season and even the slower stories are well written and enjoyable. Anyone feeling the need for a little paranormal holiday boost will love Season of Love.

This is another fun story that centers on the legend of Santa Claus being true. Here he has five big strapping sons who help run his empire. Nicholas Klaus is the eldest son and, by tradition, the son slated to take over as the next Santa. Except that his real enjoyment is being a master pastry chef. While on vacation, Nicholas meets Lucy Brewster, who concocts amazing sugary confections and shares his interest in cooking. Their attraction to one another is immediate but filled with troubles. The biggest difficulty is that she is human and subject to the problems relating to that. When she is critically injured, Nicholas is forced to make a decision that catapults their lives into turmoil. Lucy awakens in the North Pole with the man she loves and a world everyone thought was only a dream. And now they face even more issues that threaten their happily-ever-after future.

I found Sweet Inspiration to be a very enjoyable read, filled with a well-developed cast of characters. It left me hoping that there are follow-up stories involving the other four brothers. I recommend this as a wonderful book to sit down with on a cold winter’s night, while sipping hot chocolate, and moving into the lives of a unique twist on the legendary Klaus family.

The holidays are for happiness and joy, but the first ones after a life changing event are always the hardest. Espiecally when it’s a divorce. But what happens when Santa gets sick and his stand-in is the guy you’ve an interest in? That’s not what Mara Wentworth thought about, the displays had to be perfect for the children. Sam Kendall is the stand-in and a quirk with a prop brings life into focus.

Sally Farley did a good job of portraying a recent divorced woman and her feelings of the approaching holidays. Her worries over her life now that this chapter in her life is over and the spark of interest she finds in another. It was well written and another wonderful addition to the holiday romances out there. As a quick read it’s perfect for the ride to grandma’s house. I recommend it for those who are busy but still want to find a moment for peace that comes with a good book and Christmas

38 years is a long time to get settled in a good marriage. Henry and Emma have had this with a house, 3 grown kids and a working farm in a small town in Utah. Henry took care of the farm and Emma ran the house with kids. Everything was good until one day Emma finds herself a widow. Now Emma has to figure out how to live without her partner and move on in life. She has to learn how to do things that Henry always took care of. How do you move forward in life and learn new things when your heart is broken? Joe Bailey, is also a widower of 3 years with grown kids. Joe is good looking for his age and talk around the town is somewhat of a ladies man. He has recently started seeing the socialite Dorothea Wellington, but he feels something is missing in their relationship. Time is moving on since Henry has died. It has been 6 months and Emma is still missing Henry every waking hour. There is the corn harvest to bring in, which Henry always took care of. When Joe decides to help out a group of neighbors bring in Emma's harvest, he is drawn to the quiet heart broken widow. He sees her try to deal with the loneliness, depression and learning new things. He wants to be there for her and help her move forward, but will she let him into her broken heart?

This was a good read and I had no problems with the editing. I found reading how Emma and Joe tried to deal with moving forward after a partners death to be very moving. I was finding myself getting a little frustrated with how much depression Emma was going through. Instead I could have used a couple more examples of new things Emma needed to learn how to deal with now that Henry was gone. Both characters were real enough for me to want to care for what happened next in the story. I did feel that there was not enough on Joe. I could have used a little more about his life and family back ground.
It was interesting to read a story about a widow and widower with grown children. That was a nice change of pace from a lot of other stories out on the market. Also the quite innocent flirting, almost being a teenager again, was sweet as well. The story could have been a little longer for me. It felt as though it was cut too short. Even though this happened, the story still moved me, I just could have used a little more. I would recommend this for someone who is tired of the teen and twenty-something stories.

Jamie and Anthony have been married for five years, but the whole last year has been the hardest of their marriage. Anthony has been putting his time into work with many business trips to build his career. This has left Jamie at home alone, with only her friends to spend time with. It makes a girl wonder if there are any connections left or are they two new people? With this question in mind, Jamie has decided that this Christmas is the perfect time to find out with a bag full of gifts for her husband. But Anthony has his own reason to celebrate Christmas this year and has also come home bearing full of gifts.

This story did not have enough character build for me. There was not enough there for me to really connect with the Anthony and Jamie so that I cared what was happening. The writing was good and I did not dislike the story. The sex scene was hot, but at the end I felt like this is all I got from the story. I would recommend this for a couple that reads to each other and does not want a long drawn out story, but just a little something to get them in the mood.

Ever had the control of your wedding taken out of your hands? Did it ever turn into something you no longer wanted? Or dreamed of it being? That’s what happened to Emma Richards. Her response when asked “What do you want, Emma?” she ran, out on her wedding, parents and her fiancé, Paul. But was that what she really wanted? What did Emma really want?

Crystal Jordan did a real good job of showing what happens when an event like planning a wedding can turn into a nightmare. It’s stressful to begin with but she portrayed the characters as what really can happen. Making it for me more ‘real’, which was a major plus. I connected with the hero and heroine easily. It was a good short read that fits nicely between the mixing of the holiday cake and removing it from the oven. Or even the wait for the cooling so it can be decorated!

Can Jayne convince Santa to take her off the naughty list?

Santa’s nephews have come to Crystal Falls to run a cookie business. If they fail, they’ll have to go back to the North Pole and fill their uncle’s black boots when he retires. But sick of toys, elves, and the North Pole’s influence, that’s the last thing Landon and Aaron want. They’re looking for love.
Jayne isn’t much for sentimental family holidays and she certainly doesn’t believe in magic. Working in the Crystal Falls post office, she is mystified when she handles mail bearing a North Pole postal mark.
When Landon and Jayne meet, their attraction for each other is undeniable, but will the truth about Landon’s life make Jayne’s a believer, or will it be his love that finally melts her heart?

This was a wonderful Christmas story! Lots of adults don't feel the magic of Christmas anymore and Jayne is no exception. Add to the fact that she has a man who claims to be Santa's nephew and she begins to think he's off his rocker or perhaps she is because she's starting to believe him! I thought the story was very original, the worldbuilding was believable and the dialogue top notch. This is the perfect story to read in a comfy chair with a cup of hot chocolate and plate of warm cookies.

Andrea Petercheff is an Assistant Manager at the Stansbury Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is assigned to oversee a young child, Piper Hamilton, who resides in the hotel. Piper is an orphan who lost her parents in 9/11. Her uncle, Max Gildenthall is her guardian and a total workaholic. Max battles his own nightmares and memories of the aftereffects of the tragedy. Andrea, Piper and Max each struggle to find happiness among the distrust and disillusion.

This is a heartwarming story of three individuals trying to find love and acceptance. Andrea is a character who is easy to like and you can identify with her insecurities as she comes into her own. Ms. Sookoo is able to impart an image of a woman who's striving to make a life for herself and tends to find herself in humorous situations. Piper is a love-starved child who is seeking love from her uncle and wanting a stable environment to grow up in. Max is a man overwhelmed by his grief and unable to face his responsibility to Piper fully; he's provided for all her material comforts but her emotional needs are far from fulfilled. As Andrea and Max interact, Piper sees a glimpse an alternate potential future. I really felt for Piper, such a brave little girl trying to define her own sense of normalcy. I didn't like the fact that Max indicated to Andrea that he was hiring also as his paid girlfriend, didn't really like the implications there. There were also a couple of moments in the story where it didn't flow as nicely as I would've liked it to but overall an easy read for a quiet afternoon. The story gives you a strong glimpse into the lives of the family members and friends of the 9/11 tragedy. It also showed you that in the worst of times, it is important to care for the living and to foster hope.

Review: For Erica, Christmas is just a season to be tolerated. It was never a joyous time in her childhood and she just doesn’t get it. However, for her best friend, Andy, it’s the best time of year, full of all the love and joy the holiday has to offer. And after years of friendship, Andy may just surprise Erica this year. If only she can get enough Christmas spirit to notice.

I had a little bit of a hard time getting started with this story because it changed from first to third person point of view and was a little rough, grammatically speaking. However, Candice Gilmer is a wonderful storyteller, and if you look past these minor problems, Erica and Andy will carry you away to holiday bliss. This tale is a heart-warming little Christmas story. It contains all the best elements of its type, including a heroine who needs to see what’s in front of her before it – it being Andy, a conveniently studly childhood friend – disappears. Christmas spirit can be ours, we are reminded, if we are only willing to open our hearts and let it in. Andy is a total dreamboat, and I rooted the entire time for Erica to wake up and smell the Christmas tree before it was too late. Read this curled up in a big chair with a cup of cocoa, with marshmallows.

Jake runs the antique shop where Loral sells her priceless family heirlooms. He knows she needs financial help but her pride stands between her and the hand he longs to offer. Loral struggles to make the rent payment and pay for her mother’s medical bills. One bright spot in her life is the gorgeous man behind the counter at Yore Timeless Treasures, but he also represents everything she can not have. How can she let the man who drives a Lexus and owns his own business see how far she has fallen?

Wow. I sincerely adored this story. Dragonfly Dreams smacks of Gift of the Magi while remaining original, heartwarming, and honestly lovely. I had not read anything by Stacey Joy Nitzel before, but I will certainly look into her other work. Dragonfly Dreams sucked me in and held me from start to finish. Jake is sweet, kind, and noble – everything a true romantic hero should be. Loral, on the other hand, is tough yet vulnerable and adorable – the perfect heroine. I give this the highest rank because I would read it again and again.

Philip Marshall, a man of no great means with the exception of his father's pocket watch comes upon a lovely lady viewing a department store Christmas display. Rachel Gordon, a young lady who works at the fresh market is also drawn to this charismatic man who approaches her. As the times are rough, they strive to find ways to be with each other.

This was a very short and sweet love story. The characters were true to the time period and easy to identify with. Philip is a lovely man with a simple yet charming disposition. Rachel, a kind and vivacious character is easy to like and quite relatable. I found that the story was very simply written and that the interaction between the characters were as par of their nature. I did wish that there had been more depth to the story because I believe it had the potential to be a classic romance story.

But her libido and emotions take a nose dive when she meets Joel, an Orthodox Jew with a devastating body and personality to match. Unfortunately for Annie (a non-observant Jew herself), Joel is devastatingly devout, and determined to save himself for marriage even as he relentlessly pursues her.Annie must reclaim her lost faith and sacrifice her desire for immediate gratification to claim the ultimate role as Joel's life-mate. But it isn't easy; as both fall deeper in love with each other, they must fight the passionate urge to consummate physically the deep bond they share emotionally.

This is one of those stories a reader picks up, reads, puts it away and never forgets. It works on so many levels and for such a short read, it has so much going on. I was blown away by the depth of the characters, and the incredible love Annie and Joel share. Joel is very devout, yet it doesn't come across contrived but very real and passionate. The fact that he loves his faith so much he wants his life-mate to have that same passion for it is great. Better yet, the author does an awesome job of weaving the intricacies of Judaism with real life and shows how beautifully entwined the two can be. For Annie and Joel, it's a blessing to be faithful, not a burden. And the love they have as a result of their commitment to it binds them together. I've read this story many times and each time, I get something out of it. Well done, Erica DeQuaya! I can't wait to read more of your work!
